Powertek Corporation Named the 2008 National Minority Technology Firm of the Year 09.09.08 Powertek is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) named Powertek as the National Minority Technology Firm of the Year at the 26th Annual National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week gala on September 5, 2008. Powertek’s President, Nancy Scott, acknowledged the contributions of Powertek employees during her acceptance speech as “Putting the POWER in Powertek.” The National MED Week Conference is the largest federally sponsored conference held on behalf of the minority business enterprise community. MBDA, the only Federal agency created to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned businesses in America, organizes the event in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration and other partners to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of minority business owners and advocates. Powertek was honored by successful minority entrepreneurs, corporate and government supplier diversity and purchasing representatives, and leaders of local minority business organizations. The awardees represent "best in class" as determined by an independent panel of evaluators who considered the nominations from across the United States. Powertek was earlier selected as “MBDA Regional Technology Firm of the Year,” before being named as the national award recipient. "We're proud to recognize these minority-owned businesses and their outstanding contributions to the U.S. economy," said MBDA National Director Mr. Ronald N. Langston.
